The difference between Non-Rising stem gate valve and rising stem gate valve

A gate valve is a used for medium connection and shut-off, but not for regulation. Compared with other valves, gate valves have a wider range of combined applications in terms of pressure, working oil, design pressure and temperature.

According to the thread position of the valve stem, the gate valve can be divided into a rising stem gate valve and a non-rising stem gate valve (NRS).

The main difference between rising stem gate valve and a non-rising stem gate valve below:

1. The stem of the rising stem gate valve is exposed and can be seen.

The stem of non-rising gate valve stem is in the valve body and cannot be seen;

2. The Rising stem gate valve is driven by the thread of the valve stem and the steering wheel, thereby driving the Wedge to rise and fall;

The non-rising stem gate valve drives the wedge to rise and fall through the rotation of the stem at a fixed point. When switching, the steering wheel and the valve stem are connected together and relatively stationary.

3. The transmission thread of the gate valve with non-rising stem is located inside the valve body. During the process of opening and closing the valve, the stem only rotates in place, and the opening and closing state of the valve cannot be judged by the eyes;

The drive thread on the stem of the rising stem gate valve is exposed outside the valve body, and the opening and closing and position of the wedge can be judged intuitively;

4. The height of the non-rising stem gate valve is small, and the installation space is relatively small;

The rising stem gate valve has a large height when it is fully opened, and requires a large installation space;

5. The stem of the rising stem gate valve is outside the valve body, which is convenient for maintenance and lubrication;

The stem thread of the non-rising stem gate valve is inside the valve body, which is difficult to maintain and lubricate, and the valve stem is easily eroded by the medium, and the valve is easily damaged.

6. The stem nut of the rising stem gate valve is on the bonnet or bracket. When opening and closing the gate, the stem nut is rotated to reach the lifting or lowing of the stem.

The stem nut of the non-rising stem gate valve is in the valve body and is in direct contact with the medium. When opening and closing the valve, it is reached by rotating the valve stem.

7. The structure of the rising stem gate valve is beneficial to the lubrication of the stem, and the degree of opening and closing is obvious, so it is widely used.

The height of the non-rising stem gate valve remains the same, so the installation space is small, and it is suitable for gate valves with large diameters or limited installation space. This structure should be equipped with an opening and closing indicator to indicate the degree of opening and closing.
